About Cellulose Acetate
What is Cellulose Acetate?
Cellulose Acetate (CA) is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastics. Hair clips made with traditional plastic are not only leaving a negative impact on the environment, but tend to be rather fragile. At Kōv Essentials, all hair clips are made with CA, allowing them to be more durable and flexible.
Derived from wood pulp + cotton fibres, CA is more heat sensitive, requiring more care than drug-store hair clips made with plastic.
What to expect from your clip
Just like how your favourite pair of jeans may stretch between washes, you might notice slight stretch in your clip's teeth overtime. This can easily be reset with a hot water bath (further instructions provided with your order).
We recommend against wearing your CA hair clips in the sun or direct heat (i.e. sauna) for extended periods of time, as they are more sensitive to heat than traditional plastics.
Kōv Essentials' clips are elevated hair accessories, requiring more TLC than drug-store clips made with plastic. We believe in full transparency and want to ensure shoppers are aware of this before purchasing their new go-to claw clip.

this is by far my favourite claw clip, it lives up to its name as i really do use it daily! i purchased the sugar colour last year and my puppy recently chewed it (still wearable but missing a chunk or two) and was disappointed as it was a limited colour at the time but am beyond excited they have brought it back! currently saving up for a new one <3
I have a size large and have thicker long hair. This is the only clip that doesn’t fall from my hair and I never have to worry about it breaking. So much so that I put the clip on the outside of my backpack when traveling and even throwing my bag around I don’t even worry about it! Definitely recommend! Slightly gets warped with extreme heat but never causes problems.
I took a chance on these clips because I needed something that could stand up to my thick hair. I could never get clips to hold my hair and/or stay because they weren't big or strong enough. NOT THE CASE WITH THIS CLIP! I am impressed, excited even! Building another order as we speak! Plotting the disposal of my other hair clips now because they are dead to me! This clip feels effortless in its ability to hold my hair in place, and I stays in place regardless of sudden head movements or otherwise. Very secure, very comfortable. True to size, buy these clips!!!
