About Cellulose Acetate
What is Cellulose Acetate?
Cellulose Acetate (CA) is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastics. Hair clips made with traditional plastic are not only leaving a negative impact on the environment, but tend to be rather fragile. At Kōv Essentials, all hair clips are made with CA, allowing them to be more durable and flexible.
Derived from wood pulp + cotton fibres, CA is more heat sensitive, requiring more care than drug-store hair clips made with plastic.
What to expect from your clip
Just like how your favourite pair of jeans may stretch between washes, you might notice slight stretch in your clip's teeth overtime. This can easily be reset with a hot water bath (further instructions provided with your order).
We recommend against wearing your CA hair clips in the sun or direct heat (i.e. sauna) for extended periods of time, as they are more sensitive to heat than traditional plastics.
Kōv Essentials' clips are elevated hair accessories, requiring more TLC than drug-store clips made with plastic. We believe in full transparency and want to ensure shoppers are aware of this before purchasing their new go-to claw clip.

I am not one to typically write reviews, but I just received my third clip from Kov and I am SO pleased with my order. I bought my first daily clip a few years ago through the 437 collaboration and instantly fell in love. I now have a few daily clips and a demi clip and each one is so consistent. I have slowly been replacing other clips as they do not measure up to my Kov ones. I have long, straight, thick hair and these clips are truly the only thing that will hold all my hair, all day long. If you’re on the fence about purchasing, just do it! You will not regret it!!
I was intrigued when I saw the pictures, persuaded when I read the reviews and all the way in love when I got my mocha color daily clip! It kept my long, thick, straight and smooth hair up and unbudgeable! I bought a second one to match a year later along with many others! I am a fan for life!
I got this from the QA sale because i was obsessed with my first daily clip in birch! My hair is super fine and slippery but this has such a strong hold and barely moves all day. It’s super comfy and fits against my head really well! My daily clip in birch tragically broke (my fault not a testament to the durability) so ive been wearing my sugar clip almost everyday even tho it’s purple but it’s so subtle and still goes well with pretty much everything! I recommend this clip to literally all my friends and we’re all obsessed!
I still have my original cloud clip (daily clip now) from 2021! Just an awesome clip that doesn’t budge or break. I ordered a new daily clip in Honey and it’s just as good quality as my original clip was from years ago. Love that there’s so many new colours and sizes now. Can’t wait to order more and add to my collection!
